Tennessee General Assembly 2019
West Hills Baptist Church | Knoxville
April 26-27

God is at work doing miraculous things all around us, if only we will have eyes to see and ears to hear. In this weekend of storytelling, we gather to hear about the good work God is doing in and through our Tennessee CBF family. Join us as we gather from our scattered places to come and listen. Our fellowship will provide the space and opportunity for us to engage with the stories of hope that are happening throughout the State and beyond. Together we will “taste and see that the Lord is good” as we learn from each other’s experiences. The sharing of stories will inspire and equip all of us to find our place in the story and to share what God is doing in the world!

New Executive Coordinator Paul Baxley will be in attendance, as well as field personnel Scarlette Jasper (CBF Rural Poverty Initiative, McCreary County KY and Scott County TN), Marc and Kim Wyatt (Internationals Ministry, Raleigh, NC), and Cindy Hood, Director of Welcome House | Knoxville. Faces of Beloved Community, a CBF nationally touring photo exhibit, will help tell the story of God’s mission.

Come, Listen | Friday, 7:00-8:30 | Sanctuary
Our Friday fellowship and worship includes leadership by the renown Knoxville troupe, The Word Players. Through an improvisational theatre form known as Playback Theatre, real life stories of ministry will be brought to life on the spot using dialogue, movement, and music. Participants will share an experience from his or her life and actors will play it back, capturing the heart or essence of the experience. The stories may be humorous or serious: memories from long ago, last week, or just that morning! Playback Theatre is powerful and creative, allowing diverse voices to be heard and respected. It builds connections between people by honoring the dignity, drama, and universality of their stories. Come prepared to tell, hear, and see your story as a part of God’s larger story in Tennessee.
